Mid-Winter Yoga 2014

I'm writing with an update about our yoga classes during this beautiful, quiet season of the year. I hope you'll consider joining me soon for a mid-winter session of yoga. Here's what I have brewing:

Body, Breath and Being, a five-week yoga session beginning February 12, will meet on Wednesday mornings from 9 to 10:30 AM. In this session we'll continue our exploration of hatha yoga, paying particular attention to the integrity and wellbeing that evolve from harmony of movement, breath and mindful awareness. We'll dive into a range of basic breathing practices that serve as beautiful bridges between the body and the mind, and that also have the power to soothe, heal and uplift our lives.

The Art of Balance, a five-week yoga session beginning February 13, will meet Thursday evenings from 6 to 7:30 PM. In this session we'll explore balance in all its guises: the dynamic process that helps us feel stable and well-rooted in tree pose; the beautiful evenness in spirit that evolves from a balanced and wholesome breath; and the quiet joy that emerges from a mind suffused with ease and well-being.

Equanimity is my chosen word of the year, and I'm hopeful that these courses will offer us all an opportunity to explore the possibility of cultivating a mind that welcomes each moment (even the beautifully chaotic ones) with ease and openness. I have a feeling this is a journey of a lifetime, not just a year, but perhaps we can have a little fun exploring equanimity together.
