Fall Classes in Movement and Stillness

September 1, 2021

Dear Friends -

As we turn the calendar page over to a new month, I am writing with an update about our classes in movement and stillness. I am so grateful that we have continued to meet through these last 18 months, thanks to Zoom, the internet, and everyone's forbearance and persistence. Our pandemic mantras have been "manageable" and "good enough," and that's how our classes have carried us through. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Given COVID's persistence, I anticipate we'll continue gathering primarily through Zoom through the winter. The silver lining here is that long-distance friends can continue to join us, and I'm so thankful for that. Also, we'll all get to practice in our pajamas a little longer.

The exception will be our Wednesday class, which will continue to meet in the flesh, outside at the Mansfield Art Center, just as long as Mother Nature allows.

I'm anticipating that we will all need a little extra nourishment in the seasons ahead, so I have a bit of a plan. Each month, let's choose one topic or author and do a deep dive together in the name of clarity, growth and shared experience. Consider it a book-club-ish experience, where I will host the exploration and you are welcome to participate in any way you like.

Perhaps you'd like to read a book that relates to our chosen topic. Perhaps you'd like to keep a journal with reflections on anything you've learned. Or maybe you'd just like to listen, as we weave into our classes all that we have gleaned. It will be an experiment, for sure, but I'm looking forward to giving it ago.

We'll take our September deep dive into the works of Brian Doyle, one of my very favorite writers. Let's learn what we can about his life and his offerings. Let's explore just how he shined brightly in the world. Let's let his words inspire and enliven us. If you'd like to really dive in, I suggest starting with his book of essays One Long River of Song. If you'd rather just stick your toes in the water, perhaps peruse my favorite passages from his work, which you can find here.

Wherever you live and however you practice, please feel free to join us as we gather together in the name of wisdom and love. You can learn more about my Monday, Wednesday and Saturday classes here. And if you prefer shorter doses of practice - done on your own and in your own way - please feel free to explore my guided audio practice series called At Home In the World. All that is required is an open mind and a willing heart.

One way or another, I hope to see you soon!

In gratitude,

Claudia
