Spring and Early Summer Yoga Classes

May 11, 2020
Dear Yoga Friends -

I miss you! I miss watching you stream into class each week and settle into your familiar spot in the room. I miss standing side-by-side as we transform ourselves into trees and triangles and swimming dragons and big bears. I miss that feeling of shared peace that settles upon us as we rest together in savasana at the end of class. I look forward to the time when we can practice together again.

Alas, that time is not yet here. I am committed to keeping us healthy, and so for now we will continue practicing together virtually. Good enough is better than nothing, and good enough is definitely better than potentially infecting one another while supposedly cultivating health and wellness!

Our class schedule remains the same  for spring and early summer: Meditation meets on Mondays at 6, and Mindful Movement meets on Wednesday and Saturday mornings at 9. These classes are freely offered, and a "virtual dontation basket" can be found on our classes page for those who are moved to contribute to this programming. Thank you!

In addition, my hope is to offer occasional "pop-up" yoga sessions this summer, outside and with appropriate social distancing. These gatherings would be held only when they are allowed and safe, and also when the weather cooperates. If you haven't already done so, follow my website via email to stay informed about these special sessions.

I have also been working with Kingwood Center to create short mindfulness videos that showcase their beautiful spring gardens. Our first video (created with help from my son) shares the practice of box breathing and can be found here.

I have been so pleased to see long-lost friends from far away pop up in our virtual sessions. My thought is that even after this period of social distancing ends, I will likely continue to offer at least one weekly online class. So, wherever you may live, welcome to our warm and open-hearted community!

If you haven't joined us yet virtually and would like to, please contact me and I will help you get all set up. It's not as difficult as it sounds, as long as you have a computer or tablet and a stable internet connection.

Please reach out to me with questions or suggestions, or even with a little news about how you are keeping your heart afloat these days. And in the meantime, I look forward to seeing your face pop up on my screen as we continue to practice together, even while staying physically apart.
