SPECIAL EVENTS

YOGA & HAPPINESS
Saturday, June 9, from 9 to 11 AM
The Mansfield Art Center
(Contact Claudia directly to register)
$25

Yoga's many gifts shine brightest when we take them off the mat and into the world. In this "Yoga &" series, we explore the connection between yoga and other disciplines that help us bloom in body, mind and spirit.

In this session, we'll consider the fine art of happiness and we'll explore ways of welcoming joy and delight more fully into our lives. We'll explore a light and uplifting series of yoga poses, along with breathing practices and contemplative techniques. We'll consider when, where and how we are happiest, and we'll explore strategies that can help us stay in touch with ease and openness, even in the midst of difficulty.

Is happiness a feeling, a skill, a practice, or a choice? Can we be happy, even in the midst of challenge and difficulty? How do we maintain a positive spirit even when surrounded by grumbliness and ill-will? And how can we best share the light of joy with the greater world around us?

Bring along your own thoughts about these questions to share, if you like. Together, perhaps, we can help the world become a happier place for all!

YOGA & QIGONG
Saturday, July 14, from 9 to 11 AM
The Mansfield Art Center
(Contact Claudia directly to register)
$25

Yoga's many gifts shine brightest when we take them off the mat and into the world. In this "Yoga &" series, we explore the connection between yoga and other disciplines that help us bloom in body, mind and spirit.

In this session, we'll investigate the many connections between the Indian practice of yoga and the Chinese practice of qigong. The two "cousins" share many aims and similarities, yet they also approach physical and spiritual health in slightly different ways. We'll explore these similarities and differences, and we'll also consider ways to integrate them both into our lives in healing and heartfelt ways.

Yoga has gained a foothold in American wellbeing, and qigong is likely to be next. The practice - sometimes called "taoist yoga" - is gentle, powerful and healing on so many levels. Come see why!
